Her Choice Was Honored

Many near-death experiencers report they were given a choice to remain in their glorious new realm or return to mortality. We hear from those who chose return, but I’ve wished I could speak to one who’d chosen to stay. That’s why Michelle’s comments struck me. 

I met Michelle at a conference in Sedona. We visited between sessions. Because she’d heard me speak about the passing of my brother and daughter, our conversation moved quickly from the perfunctory to the profound. She told me of her sister, Monique, who had passed in a hang-gliding accident.

After her death, Monique visited Michelle. She explained that in the interval between the turbulent air that had sent her hang-glider flailing and when it struck the earth, she’d left her body. She’d entered a bright, brilliant, welcoming place. A guide had given her a choice; stay or return. With her characteristic exhilaration and wonder, Monique had opted to stay.

Monique told Michelle she’d left her body before impact. She’d experienced no injury or pain. And her choice to stay had been honored.
